    Question Boost windows performance?

Try this little tip I found :

    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...inme;mode=flat

    Reboot after the reg change!

I have applied this tweak and there seems to be a small performance boost and no ill affects. I will do some more checking.

Please post results back here for others to see.

    Thanks.

Am I doing this right? There was no PriorityControl Folder in my Reg, so I added that. Would you please check my handy work?

    Unhappy Nope!

    That is not right.

Delete the 'hive' you just created (the proper name for registry 'folders') then get the text file below, rename it so it has a .reg extension and double click on it to update the registry.

NOTE : this reg tweak are only suitable for Win2K or XP

    Smile Am

You have to rename .txt to.reg .Then double click the file,it will automaticaly enter it's self into the registry.

I.m sure You know already, but just incase(never double click a .reg file) unless You know what it will do.

I tried this on my Win2K OS and I have no idea if this work or not. Atleast it didn't break my OS.

    licky

I found that some people got performance gains by using this reg 'hack', that's all.

Try is and see what you think!

    licky Ah ha!

My guess is you need to set explorer to show file extentions otherwise you just rename a .txt file to .reg.txt so it's still a text file.

You need to get at the .txt extesion and change that.

    Good luck.

    mean Oh bugger

    That be mighty strange that

Do it this way instead :

Start > Run > type 'regedit' and press enter.

    Navigate to...

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    \SYSTEM
    \CurrentControlSet
    \Control
    \PriorityControl

On the right hand pane that shows the values, right click and create a new DWORD entry called "IRQ8Priority" (without the quotes). Then double click on the new entry and change the value to 1.

Close regedit and you're all done!

Oops! Forgot to reply earlier! My bad

It seems that WinME is a funny old beast (no! really?) and have some of these seemingly vital reg entries missing

It's ok to create the relevant key(s) if you need to. It will either use the values there or just ignore it

IMHO WinME is an awefull mess of an OS, stick with Win98se (or Win2K) if you can!
