    USB/video editor probs

I just received the Hauppauge Win TV-PVR USB2 external capture device from Newegg. My problem is that it will work only with the Ulead Studio3 software provided (long outdated and support is dropped, latest is Studio9!) and only when I have it up and loaded AND my analog camcorder switched on with the USB plugged in, then reboot the computer and have XP load with everything up & running. The the software sees the capture device.

Other that that, I have tried Pinnacle, Ulead Studio 8, and Nero Ultra 6 and nothing will "see" or link to the Hauppauge. The message I get from them all is to the effect that the encoder drivers are not loaded and please start the software.

My USB ports are all working great with anything I plug in.

Below (I hope this works) is a pic of my USB in Control Panel. Anyone see anything wrong?

...thought that I would add that this is an external capture device that plugs into the USB ports; so I am guessing that since three of the major editing softwear products all give me that same message that they cannot detect any capture device when I click on the "capture" button, something is wrong with my USB ports.
That's why I asked if anybody sees anything wrong with them.
    ..thanks, Bob

It's more likely software issues. You have to use the product provided with the device? Did you buy those other programs retail or just copy them from elsewhere? They may only work on supported devices due to licensing.

Your USB is probably fine, as you say it works with other devices and device manager looks good.

Thanks Grogan. Something that costs $137 should work with other software, so guess I will send this back to Newegg and try something else.

Well it's not that the DEVICE won't work with other software, I meant the other way around. Some of that software (if bundled with other capture devices) may only work on the hardware it came with to prevent you from making a copy for your friends etc. The same thing is done with CD Writing/DVD software.
