    Microsoft Buys Out Opera ?

    From CoolTechZone, interesting for sure.

"(Insider Report) - Here comes a surprise. In a recent conversation with one of our insiders at Microsoft, the source revealed that Microsoft Corp., the world’s largest software maker, has acquired Opera Software, makers of the Opera browser. The insider reported that both Microsoft and Google were trying to bid on Opera, but in the end, the software maker took the lead."

Update: Opera recently confirmed that Microsoft has not approached the browser maker and there is no active acquistion deal between the two companies currently.
I didn't think that was true, because if it was it would mean the end of Opera. Microsoft might take some of the technology for their own, continue to keep Opera available for a while and then extinguish it. I would hope that the makers of Opera would have more pride than that.

Aye, agree with G, hope it doesn't happen, it will just be another instance of MS snuffing out the competition.

I quite like Opera actually, especially now there's no ads with the free version.

A good safe browser for viewing pRon

I quite despise Opera, but that's beside the point. Obviously the people who wrote and maintain Opera love it, and so do its fanboys

I'd hate to see it extinguished by a monopolistic company that beshits itself with greed. I'm all for having lots of choices in good quality software.

That's the way they do business. There has been lots of good software that has disappared over the years. My favorite being FoxPro which blew the doors off of M$ Access. You can bet your boots they are worried about Firefox and are looking for ways to get rid of it as well.
Spring has sprung. If I'm not here, I'm gone golfing, camping, golfing, fishing, etc. Disregard; I'm back.....Again!
