    direct x problem

ok. so i installed rome: total war. because my computer just went in for repair and the hard drive died. Now, i installed Rome: Total war, all the components including Direct X 9. when i went to play the game, it came back with an error reading:

"Rome: Total War failed to find Directx 9 which is required to run this program, please reinstall Directx 9."

    or something to that effect.

then i reinstalled straight from the microsoft website. it still didnt work.

This worked when the computer still had the original hard drive. could that section of the video card shorted out? because on the computer we had to replace the sound card (fried) also.

I did some checking around and found there is a Patch about 60mb that may fix this for you.

If that doesn't work try and install DirectX SDK version, this is the directX that developers use, may have some components that are not included in the regular DX9 install.

If that doesn't work go here and get the directX uninstaller
    http://majorgeeks.com/DirectX_9_Uninstaller_d2935.html

Then after that try to re install DirectX and try the game again.

Let us know how it works and good luck.
