    Adept problems

I installed Kubuntu 6.06 on my workstation (P3). So far it's runs like a F1 car.
But one problem keeps bugging me: the Adept package manager is not running as well as a package manager should run. Generally it works but yesterday I downloaded some packages and during the install process of jdk (Java Developement Kt) it's stopped and I was forced to terminate it.

When I tried to install these (or any) packages today it's informs me that other process of Adept is allready running and I can't do anything until it's over.

    What should I do?

    dpkg --configure -a
solved this but this project still lacks of tutorial and handbook.

    die Adept, die!

I tried to install synaptic (and later some more packages) and I got the following (untrue) message:
There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.

Don't know how much time you've got invested in kubuntu..if it's very little then i would suggest tossing it as far as you can..And try pclinuxos..i've found it to be much better then ubuntu or kubuntu..and it uses synaptic as it's default package manager. If kubuntu is what you want then good luck to you.

I understood it by myself. Any way now I have a tuned Ubuntu box with all the latest updates. Ubuntu is better and the standards are very high.

Today I also got OpenSUSE 10.1 liveDVD by mail from a local SUSELinux site.
Suse got much better than the last time I installed it. The install program is much better (now I have a triple boot system Win-Ubuntu-Suse).

I don't know why everyone here complained about the online update program of SUSE. I'm not using it becasue I have all the bleeding edge packages available on my Ubuntu system, but I think that I'll use SUSE as a "daily system", ya know web surfing, office and chat, not a brain surgurey.

And I need to mention that the setup is much faster using a DVD media (I have a DVDrom drive but not a burner).
