Power is something that should be given to those who need it to serve and withheld from those who seek it to rule.
Anybody else getting any "monster" WUs atmo? My fastest rig currently has 218hrs of run time left at three percent complete (HF2).That seems like an unusually large WU to me.

CRUNCHIN FOR DAD & in Memory of our Friend Whipat
Nope... no monsters here, But I'm also set to only run the 2 new projects ATM.
Finding Dengue drugs and Africa climate. Only had one of the climate ones so far. 5.6hrs to crunch it...
I'll have to check my cache and see if I have any of the climate units cued. I know on some other projects climate work can be hyoooge, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's got some weight about it in this case, but I really don't know.
Ok, just checked the system requirements, I'm never going to see one of them. I don't have a fast enough internet connection. Never mind, plenty of other stuff for me to work on.
For AfricanClimate@Home, the minimum requirements are:
* At least 256 MB RAM (with virtual memory enabled)
* 1 GB Hard Disk Drive space available for use
* The ability to display 8-bit graphics at 800x600 resolution
* An Internet connection with minimum 756 kbps speed
* Operating System: Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP

Why does this project download and upload so much data?
Climate simulations require three-dimensional information about temperature, pressure, wind, humidity and surface properties for the entire region being studied at a detailed grid level. In addition, information arriving at the boundary of the region over the time span being studied is needed. This requires a considerable amount of input data, and as the simulation runs, a large quantity of output data is produced.
Got boyo's machine switched from W2k to Ubuntu 7.04. Seems to have cut several hours of a FAAH unit's completion times. We'll just have to see how it goes long term.
I can't run them for that reason either.Originally Posted by Dark Angel
