    GPU crunching

Hey there, I'm very busy this month, so I'm not crunching right now. However, I made some changes to my rig (now it's officially a rig). I bought an ATI Radeon 3870HD, along with a great Thermaltake PSU (600W).

I remember that I read somewhere that it's possible to use the card to do crunching, but until now I had no use for that (GF7200 is not a GPU).

I checked at ATI's site and the only project available (beta) is Folding@Home.
Does BBT has a Folding team? I guess that putting that little beast to crunch can get a lot of work done.

    And, pics as usual...

I cleaned up the dust and put all these cables in the empty optical disks bays, so it's more neat

We used to have a folding team but.....
Lets just say the majority of the team didnt see eye to eye with the moderators there.

Two members even got banned for standing up to their bully tactics. The red cards were worn with pride, too.
Power is something that should be given to those who need it to serve and withheld from those who seek it to rule.

Technically there is a BBT folding team ... there's just nobody still on it, as far as I know.

You say you have a Radeon 3870 HD. According to the site you linked to it is only supported by the Radeon X1950, X1900, X1800, X1650, and X1600 Series GPU's.

No, it states that the lab uses these cards. I think that it backward (forward) compatible.

Client that will support your new vid card is still in closed beta, haven't seen much ETA of finish...here's some reading material.

Thank you. I'm sure that there wouldn't serious support for this kind of crunching until nVidia will support this too.

BTW, imagine how cool is the 780g chipset for crunching (relatively speaking) - crunching for merely a 10W (or something like that) on the chipset itself.

    Sorry MSUredux , my mistake.
