thanks Man, let us know if there is anything astounding about it.. I'm about distrod out right now. have tried Suse 11.2 and Mandrake 2010 in the last week, but haven't seen anything that would make me kick Sabayon 5 or Ubuntu 9.10 off the property...

I haven't really got much further than Ubuntu / Xubuntu either to be honest, Michael, for a modern off the shelf desktop distro that's current and well supported and I'm no great lover of gnome, so xubuntu appeals. I'm like a lot of people auditioning the desktop arena and finding that most of the big names offer the same end user uniformity, just some releases are better than others, more polished, slicker.

That new Mandriva release, fer'instance, was a sight better than the previous half arsed release. And I continually find the KDE implementation in Kunbuntu somewhat lacking at times. And I also know that the SuSE implementation is probably about the best out of the bunch but I don't particularly click with the rest of it. KDE4.xx is here to stay and can only get better and could even turn out to be something half decent yet imo. After Fedora, and while I've got a little time on my hands, I might re-visit the base distro. I might even have a look what that Gentoo is up to these days. Who knows, I might just dig Windows ME out and play with that too.
