Gerry Rafferty obituary
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right...
I saw Gerry Rafferty perform once, as one half of The Humblebums, the other half was a fella named Billy Connolly.
That was at The Lyceum in London's Strand, supporting Osibisa in 1970. Even then, Connolly was telling loads of jokes in between songs, had yet to find his true vocation.
They were good, a couple of accoustic folkies with a warm presence, as I remember.
All my peers seem to be dying around me, RIP Gerry.
Oh I always liked that song...
"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles." - Audrey Hepburn

A Humblebums song:
And kinda related, for Bits really, Billy Connolly on banjo playing Cripple Creek in his time with the Humblebums.
A fine musician, is Billy.
The ones that I always think of as soon as I hear his name.
