BBT WCG Charts and Stats Update 07/06/12

My numbers will be severely down on what they've been. The price of power here has jumped considerably (up 34% as of July 1st) and I'm just plain going to have to cut back if not out. It's been fun but thanks to previous state governments embezzling funds set aside for power infrastructure upgrades after they privatized the grid (to the tune of six billion dollars) and using the money to balance their shitty budgets and pay for the Sydney Olympics (that most of the state didn't fucking want!) we now have to pay AGAIN to bring the grid back up to scratch. This, incidentally, was from our CONSERVATIVE party (equivalent to the US republicans ... kind of) and the opposition has been too incompetent to fix the damage. In US terms, it's like we've been raped by the Republicans and had the Democrats give us a lollipop for our trouble.

Sorry for the rant. I'm not feeling very sociable right now.
Power is something that should be given to those who need it to serve and withheld from those who seek it to rule.

There's also a new tax been levied here on top of that. Strictly speaking the tax is only on the largest carbon polluters, but those are the same corps that pass everything down to the little guy with a markup so I don't know what effect that will have on my power costs just yet.

Even if I have to stop crunching completely I'll still be here.

Hope things get better for you DA, but do what you have to in the meantime. We've had some utility shenanigans here as well, in fact that's why we ended up electing the Terminator as governor in a recall election of the previous governor.

Well since our state government privatised the whole power industry they have little or no say in things aside from some limitation of max pricing. The elected government has changed several times since then but it's only now that we're seeing just how much damage privatising things has caused. There are several politicians, state and federal, that I genuinely believe should be charged with treason over this.
