EA, Maxxis suing Zynga for copyright breach

    http://games.slashdot.org/story/12/0...edium=facebook

Zynga, the Facebook game giant, has been accused (rightly) of stealing ideas from indie game developers for years but has always had the money to squash the opposition. This time they've picked on one of the big dogs.
I hope they enjoy what comes their way. It's about time.
Power is something that should be given to those who need it to serve and withheld from those who seek it to rule.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Cause you know damn good and well that if EA wins this one, they'll try to go after every other game developer on the planet.
Oh you made a shooter? you musta copied one of our titles.
Oh a sports game? You had to have stolen that from us.

You have a point about EA. Zynga on the other hand have been deliberately (and openly) stealing content for some time. I know it won't happen, but the best possible outcome would be for them both to collapse from the lawsuits and take several media industry associations with them. It won't happen that way of course, more's the pity.

It sort of reminds me of watching two bad guys in a video game taking shots at each other

Kind of like in Doom2 (I think) where you could, if you timed it right, run between a giant minotaur armed with a rocket launcher and a giant spider/brain thing with a chain gun and let them duke it out while you waited back outside.

What I used to do back in the original Quake was activate the no-target cheat code, then shoot one of the aliens once, and run. Only he could see me then, so I'd temporarily position myself with another alien (like the big chainsaw carrying ones) between me and him, and then the events that followed made for plenty of bloody entertainment
