I heard someone on the radio today saying that the Apple fans will buy up anything that Apple produces, even if it hasn't really changed from the previous version. I also heard about a little test where someone showed some Apple fans the old iPhone, but told them it was the new iPhone5, and they all ohhed and awed, saying how much better it looked then the old one

Mr Flops is neutral on this one to be quite honest, I recognise Apple's subtle way of fucking everybody til their legs turn wobbly with their pricing and marketing ethics but also acknowledge the iPhone 4 I've just bought off me mate for a really good price knocks spots of my Android based HTC Wildfire which, frankly, is a pile of shit.

Oops - the secrets out - I just bought an iPhone. No brand loyalty here folks, whatever works well for me I will embrace. Well, apart from Sony maybe.....

I just hope I can unlock the bugger otherwise it'll be pretty useless for me as I have 8 months to run with Virgin on contract and the iPhone4 is currently locked to Vodafone. I have applied to Vodaphone for unlock but it takes time, up to 3 weeks apparently. If all fails I'll flog it on Ebay and easily get my money back.

Daughter person's iPhone 5 is arriving here Friday and she's as excited as hell about it. Seems maybe an offspring of mine is part of the Sheeple clan. Hmm. Oh well.

I don't mind the iphones at all Flops, it's just apple I hate.
You can unlock it yourself if you want to go to the trouble. It's not that hard depending on which version of the ios you have on it. If it's a later version, I forget which at the moment, you will be better off getting some little apple nerd to do it for 20 to 25 bucks. There will be lots of them around - just do a search in your area.. it's not a big deal. Well it is a big deal if you get your cell network provider to do it.

Guests at my house are asked to check any and all Apple devices at the door as they are not welcome in my home let alone on my network. Part of the reason being that the whole "life so much simpler" bullshit has cost people their identities thanks to Apple's third rate security and insistence on linking everything under one account.
Also, enjoy buying every iPhone compatible device you have all over again thanks to the new proprietary connector.

Let's see, I know my identity and credit card details are safe, I know I can do whatever I like with my computers and devices without some corporation interfering at every turn, I know the companies I do buy tech from donate money to charitable causes, I know Apple cannot deliver on a single one of those things and I know I have a shred of personal integrity. I'm quite happy and relaxed about my tech choices.

That's just it, we want to do more than just browse the web

That said, sure I wouldn't mind having an iPad. But it would be as an extra toy, not for my main PC usage. I just can't justify the cost for something that would only be a toy for me. There are several iPods in my household and I do really like them.

I was watching a live cam today and I saw the iPhone 5 next to the original 5 year old iPhone up close, with both running - they looked the same! The iPhone 5's screen was marginally taller but that was about it.

I've been an iPhone since the 4 came out. I find it useful - AS A PHONE. It doesn't have enough balls to be called a full fledged handheld PC - I shan't buy an iPad, not at all. My iPhone is good enough for what I use it for, and often is a great tool and because it's dummied down to the nth degree, I don't hardly ever have to do much with it except reboot it when it locks itself up. There are some real world work restrictions for me on Samsung and Android - so I cannot use that with the corporate network - ONLY apple or Crapberry are permisso. So, there ya go, another reason not even mentioned.

Will I go running like a hungry homo for a 5 ? not a chance. It's just my PHONE. In two years, I'll decide my next one.

Liking a certain product doesn't mean you have to worship the ground the company that made it walks upon.

After reading a lot of BS about the.... Well? can't really call it "new" as it looks suspiciously like another simple update of the previous iPhone.

My take on the iPhone 5.

First, if you have a perfectly good, working 4 or 4s, don't bother. The 5 isn't that much better.

Second, if your current iPhone is dying, messed up bad, or you are in the market for your first ever iPhone... If that's what you want, Go for it.

I personally don't care for apple as a company, Heavy handed, yea you bought it but we still own it attitude just chaps my nutsack.
I'll stick with my Motorola thank-you very much.
