I saw this on Distrowatch & decided to check it out. It's originally based on Slackware, but now an independent fork. It's supposed to be aimed at "intermediate users". It still has a lot of Slackware attributes, but there are some significant differences. It uses Grub instead of LILO, and it uses Pacman. Here's how it looks with the default wallpaper. I'd already started customizing things before I thought about getting some screenshots but in XFCE it starts off with only one panel, and everything in the panel is shoved over to the left side, with no separators. So the first thing I did was place a separator set to expand.

Then I grabbed a wallpaper off my network file server, turned on composting, cleaned up the top panel and created an auto-hiding bottom panel. There's quite a number of themes in this distro, but as usual, there was only one I really cared for, that didn't hurt my eyes. There's also a lot of different window decorations. KDE and a few others like Blackbox are installed too but I haven't looked at them yet.

Although in this case after playing around a bit under the hood I've come to the conclusion it doesn't hold a candle to Slackware. I had no trouble creating and adding my user to the sudo group in Slackware, but in Frugalware it was a fight. In Slack I just edited the sudoers file in VI, then jumped into X to quickly add my user to sudo via the users utility and I was done. Frugalware wouldn't let me drop out of X, just to a command line it said would automatically return to X after so many mins of inactivity. It also disables launching X as root. I know I could still get it done and work around that and probably if I was a little more astute at this I would have sorted it out easily without getting peeved. So I'll explore it again later, but I wasn't impressed by it having restrictions that I didn't face in Slack.
