    DVD Slide Show Software

I'm interested in making some DVD's of some of our travels and vacations over the years and would like to use somwthing that is X based. Has anyone worked on a project like this and had success, I'm only talking about pictures and possibly adding music to the slide show. I'd like to be able to fade or transition the pics from slide to slide, maybe even add some text to some of them. Any sugestions folks?

I worked with Adobe Premier in school and it works awesome. Maybe I'm having a brain fart but what do you mean x based? I might know of a few other programs also zammy after I give it some thought.

I should have said Linux but this is in the Linux forum yeti, I messed around with the Windows DVD maker but it was convoluted as usual from MS. I have a friend who uses Nero with really nice results but I don't want to spend the money on that either, lol.

    Yup brain fart.

Sorry mate, I been wanting to dabble in building a Linux machine but for what I use a computer for I think it would be more of a hassle than anything else. I'm sure someone will know here.

Ha ha, so it is. I never look at what forum something is posted in. I just click on "New Posts" and checkout whatever comes up.

If you're in a KDE based distro they should have 2manDVD authoring and slideshow tool floating about somewhere. I've used it a couple of times and most of it was all click, click, click stuff. That youtube channel seems to give a flavour: http://www.youtube.com/user/csgib?feature=watch

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I took a look at all of them and finally had some time to try a couple but I think I'm going to try using a program called Imagination that is in the Mint repos. It seems like a really simple program for a simple task I want to do, will let you know how it turns out.

    Update:

I finally finished my project after some snafus along the way, lol, what else is new for me. Once I figured out what format to export the files in, I used Bombono to burn the DVD and everything came out really nice. I first tried using Brasero but it would just stall after a couple of KB's into the conversion process and never start back up. Imagination was fairly easy to even get the audio tracks into the file, a pretty good little program for my meager needs.
