My poor 1.4 T/bird has been working for over 14 hours on this beast.

51 hits so far.

You should get some great points for that. 14 hours on a 1.4 is a monster :D.

Yikes!! Yeah I have been seeing these long ass proteins coming through now on my rigs too...my 1.53G rig now takes over 9+ hours to return one back.

My golly goodness gosh, that's a whopper.

I'd hate my little K6-2 to cop one of those. It'd probably finish in March 2003 :)

btw, latest on K6-2 300: 86% for 221 hours...:goog:

Try allocating at least 1 Gig of storage space.

sheesh flops you got a monster there, my P200 at work has never taken more than 48 hours or so to do a unit. I think my biggest ever was one that took 43hrs on my T'bird 800..

James:

I'm always curious as to how much resource I should allocate to UD. Do you have a spec sheet on the settings for maxium performance/result?:!:

Stoner...read the Team PC article i linked to you...it tells you all the goodies about device setup!

But James could probably share some information I didn't so...

one way to improve things is to allocate as much storage space as you can ... it will not actually USE this allocation on your HD for real.

:D

IA & Mucks are both correct, I belive You should try to match UD's idea of a high preformance workstation as best You can. I'm no Guru, but whatever You can get to 100% should help.;)

Sounds good. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to get my first protein, 'cause I can't log onto to the UD server. I am PISSED. Until tomorrow, good day gentlemen.:transform

Ps. You think it might be the version I DL'ed that's causing the prob? It's version 2.1 for W2K. I'll try another version.

i've just had a protein take 34 hours to complete on my 950 T-bird....... maybe i'll try to re-allocate some more disk space, tho using Partition Magic on an NTFS Raid fairly makes the sphincter muscles tighten... wish me luck......

martz, you do not actually need to allocate ANY disk space ... just go to the UD Storage and tell it you have 5gig to play with.

UD does NOT USE any disk space on YOUR HD to do any work.

Go to your UD Home Page
Click on "My Device Manager" ... click on "Selected Profile" of the device you wish to change ... click "Default" and change "Hard drive space to allocate" ... and save.

I just put mine up to 10gig :D

It will NOT use this 10gig on your HD.
