1 x KT RAID with Athlon 1.2, not O/C.
1 x MSI K7T Turbo with Duron 750 @ 850
1 x Commate sa7AX with K6-2-300.
The K6-2 may soon be sacrificed to the great God Linux who wears the Red Hat, so unless Linux runs the UD program (assuming I can get my head around how to load stuff in Red Hat ) and that OS recognises a USB software Modem, it'll be gone.
We have a couple of machines at work, nothing special, next time I'm in our works Unit I'll try and get those up and running.

Just added another. This is what I've got running now.
Abit KT7 RAID/T-Bird 1.2 @ 1.320 (Mine)
MSI K7T Turbo/Duron 750 @ 850 (14-year-olds' room)
Gigabyte 586S2/K62-350 @ 366 (Messing about rig in the attic)
And just added:
FIC VA503+/K62-300 (13-year-old twins' room)
I didn't add the last one previously as when I tried earlier, whenever I shut it down, the time spent reverted back to last hours spent figure. I'm not sure if it's still doing it, I'll find out soon, it's currently on 88% and 25 hours.

Yesterday, UD didn't update stats :( I'm really, really hoping they do that tonight at about 2.15am here, 'cos I done loads since the last update.
Lemme see, in Oz, they'll probably update around 8.15am. Hope they've got back to normal. If so, and if you've joined, you should see your name added in the morning.

The Stoner: You got your freebie rig up and running now? Nice one.
Skamp: There is no set time for each protein to be processed. Some take 30 minutes, others take a week. Now, those are extreme examples, but that's the way it is. Most take a few hours.
Whatever you do, don't lose heart if you get a long one. It'll often get stuck on one percentage number, say, from 80% to 99%, but as long as the clock is ticking, it's working :)
Don't get panicked out and think it's gone all SNAFU if it takes a long time. It'll get there eventually. Welcome aboard :)

Just a thought and a bit off topic. If you check the team stats to see where we are you'll be impressed. You'll be more impressed if you do the stats for results returned and points earned of yesterday which I guess is an up to date rating of team PC's achievements. Its very impressive. For a team with so few members when compared to the big boys we really are kicking some butt.....

10-16-2001, 06:57 PM
well today i just got a group email from my boss to all of the lab techs about the computers,
my boss,"
The PC's in [edit(building #)] no longer need to be shut off (disregard what I said on the previous email about keeping them on). Just turn the monitors off. If there are any problems with the PC's or the printer please let me know."
oh yeah, and it seems that since i am so concerned about them and i know more about them than my boss, i am the new administrator of them :) , she basically wants me to handle them and keep her up to speed on them, :)
floppy: i don't think that what i said is a word, i made it up, not that it wouldn't be the way that it would be said , but i don't think that anyone is sick enough to do it, basically i did it like this:
the hot chick in the show andromeda is a computer,
now if you like to do it to trees you are a dendrophiliac.
if you like to do it with dead people you are a necrophiliac
so it seems likely that if you do it with a computer, you are a
computophiliac, or maybe i'm just twisted, :) lurch

Slayer: Its another 3 P4s and I think that'll be it for the UK office for a while. I'm still trying to get the Aus IT&T manager on my side, if I win him over it'll be about 100 P3/800 Dell systems. In honesty I think he will refuse but nevertheless I will keep trying.
As for the server, there are actually 4 of them but they are out of bounds due to the following
1. Firewall
2. Mail server
3. VPN Server
4. DC and DEV source server
These are all mission critical so I cannot load the UD on these. If I did and anything happened it would be goodnight UD and farewell Team PC. Besides they are only Dell Dual P3 933s anyway...
Ciao~ JD
PS - Yesterday I was installing a system at the UKs largest publisher of 'adult' magazines. I'm still in shock.... I had a tour of the facility and they also do live video feeds and there are semi naked p*** stars walking round in broad daylight . I never realised we had such liberal laws!
;)

God damn it, why can't my lab... hell, why can't my hospital have a PC environment instead of an Apple's. Oh well, but you know who's going to have a copy of UD setup on disk with him at all times.:D I'm working on it.
Pigflipper
10-17-2001, 09:18 AM
My dad seems to think that UD is screwing up his system (1.33tbird @ 1467, win2k) so he made me take it off. I think its more likely all the different "utilities" that he uses. So that system is out. Also I had UD for a while on an old p90 but that system died at about the 150 hour mark on the first attempt. Also my old p200 system was converted into a linux box for reasons that I still haven't been able to get out of my dad. And finally my p2 300 is just sitting in a closet and I don't feel like putting a new hdd and NIC in it right now.
current list:
Tbird 1.33 @ 1467 (will be over 1600 once I get a new mobo and psu)
Laptop p2-300
The one good thing is that I am finally getting more than 50 points for my LinkSys NICs. Now I get over 150 points for them.

Well Mr Dell delivered and I have 3 new P4s to add to my count. Its gonna take a day or two to get them online but watch this space.
J.
PS - I had to uninstall one of my devices, a P233MMX as the UD agent was forcing a blue screen, I suspect that it was the extra work heating up the chip and as the fan wasn't even spinning I guess it couldn't cope with the extra heat. Ironic that I gave up teh fan I won !
Still, I'll get a new fan and get it online again soon.

1.3@1.4 Iwill KK266 old main one,
1.3@1.3 MSI MS-6378 (just have to finish the operating system today and it's up and running, wife's compter)
1.0 duron on a Gigabyte board
800@1000 FIC SD-11 (main gaming machine when bro comes over, and why this one over the iwill is because this machine is special to me, I can't kill it and it is in an old IBM case(10MZ ibm) and I have all the games set up for it)
800 classic Abit KA-100
850@1000 FIC SD-11 (the cpu should be getting here soon, just ordered it. I sold the board and got it back because it was junk acording to the party that had it, to bad when I slaped in the CPU it came on :grr: )
500@550 K6-2 DFI
Compaq 4505 P166 runs like a top, even though its a slow one.
my next progect is rack'em pack'em stack'em, I want to rack mount the computers inside a hutch so there hidden from sight. I will be living in a one bedroom apt. that is large, so I have enough room for the hutch, just going to be fun. If anyone needs computer cases :D

Have been messing about a lot with rigs lately, finally got these up and running for Team PC:
KT7 RAID, Athlon 1.2 @ 1.33.
MSI K7T Turbo, Duron 750 @ 850.
FIC 503+ K6-2 300.
TMC T15VG+, K6-2 450 @ 500.
For the last rig, I bought the mobo 2nd hand from a UK Forum member, Mucks supplied the CPU & Modem  and I bought/rummaged & found the rest of the parts.
The TMC mobo is quite incredible for it's age, it has sensors and I can use MBM with it (image below). And yes, that is the CPU temp, I'm not sure where the system temp probe is (25C). Before I installed an 80mm exhaust fan (not shown on MBM pic, no third sensor wire) and the rig was in my living room, CPU temp was 37C.
Now it's in the cold attic, has a FOP 32 cooler fitted and the 80mm exhaust fan. Quite a remarkable drop in temp eh? :D
I am on with my wife's 750 blue core thunderbird @1030, 256 RAM, KK-266R Mobo. Flops, do you need a modem for each unit you have on? I have 2 others computers . . .

all I know now is that the lights are starting to flicker. I dunno, but is that a bad thing. one good thing is that it's not costing much to heat the house now.
HAHA! Sorry Flops! I phrased that badly - what I meant was - do I need a modem on each computer that I run UD on, or rather , do you have a separate modem on each of your UD computers?
Anyway, if I did have an extra modem or any other hardware and you needed it, no problem - it would be yours for the asking. Sorry for the confusion . . . :joy:

I havent updated to this in a while so here's my current list
1. T'Bird 800, MS K7T Pro, 512Mb PC133 (24/7)
2. Duron 600@800, Asus A7Pro, 128Mb PC100 (24/7)
3. PIII 650, Gigabyte BX2000, 256Mb PC133 (8/7)
4. PIII 450, ??, 384Mb (I think), ?? (24/7)
5. Athlon Classic 750, Gigabyte 71XE, 256Mb (infequent)
Only the top 4 there have returned a result in the last 14 days.. like I said the Athy is pretty infrequent :(
After this weekend I should hopefully be adding a P100, 16Mb lappy to the cause which would also be 24/7. I also have a Celeron 333a in the works but its a long shot at the moment.

IA: wish I could leave them 24/7, but they are still too loud for night time. I got a total of 5 panaflos per system, 4 low 1 high. Think I should stop spending for a while (yeah right). Funny how both chips are equal opportunity overclockers. Both got a 195MHz increase at CL2. I wanna know if lowering the timing to CL2.5 will give me more MHz without sacrificing the speed of UD. What does UD like more? Faster CL or MHz? Guess there's only one way to find out. Tomorrow. Hmm.... 1700 + 1750 sure sounds good...

Some of you doods and doodettes must have a hella lot of disposable income to whip together like 5, 6 machines or more. I was looking around at Newegg, and it seemed like the cheapest I could build a new cruncher for was around $600. This was with a mobo that had everything integrated, 256 MB of RAM, a 20 GB HDD. On the processor, I was trying to shoot for an AMD XP 1800 or below. Then there's the ^%$&# cost of buying a copy of Windows for each one...
:grr: :cryol: :sorry: :eyes:
Am I looking in the wrong place? :beatsme:

GK- Nope, I had 5 at one time, gave one away. Have a Athlon that is 3 yrs old and a Dell at 1yr.Those 2 I bought. the other 2 were given to me by people who were upgrading. One is so old i can't find ram for, but did manage to beg a stick off a friend, got it up to 16mb of memory. Took a copy of win98 and threw it over the 95 that it had. I kept messing with video drivers til i could get 800x600 and installed UD. It turns in a result every other day. It doesn't have room for one other thing. :)
The other I put together from bits and pieces, and does nothing but crunch.
The only machines I run under my name are in my house, if I talk a friend into running UD I go over to their house and install it for them, give them a link to UD and BBT stats, so they can watch their progress. Hopefully they will add their friends and family;)

PU,
I guess I'll have a look around at pricewatch. I was looking at how cheaply one could build by using the most minimal hardware possible, while still having a decently fast machine. Since they'd just be UD crunchers, I'd do without cd rom drives, monitors, keyboards, mice. Instead of buying a KVM switch, I'd use VNC to log in to each from my main rig if needed. :)

Come on now, Ken. what about you, and that army of 2600 and 2100's? Truth is, I can barely stay ahead of you, and some days I don't. I've seen the pics, rows and rows of machines. You push hard!
Did ya see this from yesterday? Neck and neck my friend. :)

Let's see:
1- PII 350 384mb ram (Oc'd to 466 mh) 24/7
1- 1700+ 768mb ram (Oc'ed to 1800+) 24/7
14- P4 1600 128mb ram 24/7
1- PIII 750 128mb ram 24/7
1- k7 1.4gig 128mb ram 12hr/day
Whatever Tuffie is running
4 more I don't remember.
------------------
4- P4 1600s that don't stay on long enough to do any good.
8- PIII 650s that don't stay on long enough to do any good.
The 12 puters above run about 10 hours a day during the week and there are 3 more PII 650's that I haven't put UD on. All 15 puters run W98FE which can't be changed. I tried to run UD as a service on them, but was unsuccessful. Any suggestions?
