Hey gang...as O-60 and I were preparing this week's data to choose a prizewinner, it dawned on us that we have quite an international European presence on our team! This is absoutely wonderful knowing that we got comrades overseas joing together in this great cause for humanity.

But it does pose a slight complexity though...how should I ship the prizes to the winners including the UK/Europe folks? Shipment costs to the UK/Europe be a bit expensive and IA be kinda po' especially if all the prizes end up going overseas :P

What do you guys think we should all decide on? Want something that we all can agree on and that is fair for all!

Please vote...I really need your opinions!

My proposal is that the winner pays for shipping charges. However, if they find that they cannot afford to pay shipping for whatever reason, then the prize can be awarded to a runner up. What do you guys think?

Depends what the prize is. It only cost me about £1.80p to send a mouse mat to New York, yet a Mouse mat returned to London from New York cost about 4 times as much, as I remember.

You could have a whip round, everybody send a dollar, but that raises practical problems, such as somebody having to make their address public.

I'd agree with DK, that seems fair. But I'd be buggered if I'd pay over six quid for a Max Payne Mouse Mat!

On second thoughts, I would actually, 'cos it would be a one-off and it would be entering into the spirit of the thing.

I voted that the Winner pays, but then I'm a Scotsman, on reflection it is somewhat of a dilemma.

I do not think it "fair" that IA should pay ALL the carriage. However, if the people who donated the "prizes" will agree to "foot the bill" then we have a more valuable prize.

Ah, you cheap ass nose picking buggers, stop the whinning. Now, I think all the mods should chip in and ship the prize to the winner. I mean, y'all know each other, and what's the big deal drawing a dollar from your pocket. Hell, I'll chip in if I were giving out the prizes. Anyway, just checked the shipping charges from US Postal, and well, I figure the heaviest item you guys have is the Millenium Gladiator, which weights in at a heffty 2lbs., and will cost the shipper $23. The cosignee does have to wait 4-6 WEEKS for the package to cross the pond. Damn.

BTW, do any of you gentleman across the pond have a UPS or FedEX account? You could confidentially give it to IA if the shipping is in fact cheaper that way.

AM,

We know it's not a big deal, but if you look at the prize list you'll notice all prizes were donated by the mods. I don't think domestic shipping is a problem, but overseas might be. I guess we'll take it one drawing at a time. But for now, you're the lucky winner of prize #1......enjoy :D.

Besides, the only cheap ass around here is IA :p

Suppose, just suppose, Skamp joined Team PC and won first prize, and IA had to pay the shipping....   :tooth:

or better yet, won a $9 blue orb and had to pay shipping for it

Shipping would be more than the prize :D

For some reason shipping to Aussies is cheaper than shipping to the Brits or Scots. But still, $20 to ship a $9 prize?

Here's a thought - Forget about the prize, just sent the winner a money order equivalent to the value of the prize. Oh, yeah, I'm that good!:D What'd you guys think? Yes, yes, I know, this defeats the idea of chucking (I heard this is means puke in Brit) UD units to win prizes. But by sending a money order, you'll only be spending $.80 (What? They hiked up the price again?) for postal. That way, everybody wins!:spin:

Note: This is of course an exception for our over seas winners. Domestic cows like me will have to deal with price instead of money.:p

AmStoned: Yup, if I chucked and my aim weren't too good, there'd be a big pool of Chunder somewhere it shouldn't be, usually somewhere really embarrassing like on the Bride's dress, in my case...:?:

Anyone ever been for a drink with IA? He one of them who always gets the first round in (that's before everybody has arrived) then mysteriously disappears to the Karzi for 15 minutes when it's his round again?

Just wondering

I nominate that Flops should pay for all the shipping costs :P

Lookie...a new poll option :O

Seriously though, thanks for your inputs!! I have no problem forking up funds to ship them, maybe it just means I wait a little longer to get an nForce :cryol:

But hopefully we can all come up with something that everybody will feel good about.

Maybe us that are giving the prizes should all chip in to cover any overseas shipping?? Hell I'm flexible, but however it's decided, when it's all over, I vote that we ALL chip in and give ole "Iron Wallet IA" a shiny new crowbar:D :D :D

I think we all forget that IA isnt really a cheap ass. He just has an expensive lady habbit to fund. We can't blame him for wanting to spend money on all those lush girlies.

Hell, who am I trying to kid. Sorry IA your on your own.

Looks like there is no definitive answer to this one...so for the time being, IA will take care of the costs...

We all appreciate it's expensive to ship outside North America (NA)and I personally don't think it fair that IA should stump up shipping outside NA purely because it take the shipping cost from affordable to expensive.

A couple of thoughts to work around this....

1. The winner can choose to donate his prize to another member, or into a lucky draw.

2.Bitbender Forums can choose a charity/ies to support, and then the equivalent money of the prize can be donated to that charity. For ease of paying in etc, the charity would have to be US based, but most humanitarian charities are international, so money paid into the US branch still gets to the cause in need.
Members could also choose from the inset whether a prize should be donated or a monetary value prize is up for grabs to go to the BBF charity.

My favourite is no.2.
