Okay, I've got my two computers networked and everythings fine, after initial problems withe the NIC's needing to be flashed and stuff. I'm running TCP/IP on my network with the 192.168.xxx.xxx addresses. I have a dialup modem on my main computer (maybe DSL for Christmas).

How can I run UD on my second computer and have it dial up the first computer? Do I have to make my first computer a proxy server? I'm running W2K Pro, and a friend says I need IIS to set up a proxy server.

Any help and or suggestions could get another computer online.

Internet Connection Sharing

If you have multiple computers, you can use ICS to allow you and others on your local area network (LAN) to perform different tasks simultaneously. For example, one person can send and receive e-mail messages, while another person downloads a file, and another person browses the Internet.

FBT...also take a look into both the UD Auto-Dialup and Monitor programs. The first one automatically dials to the server when the agent needs to return the result and disconnects thereafer while the Monitor allows you to batch results before sending them.

Good luck and thanks for joining Team PC!

Thanks, for all the help. When my brain gets a more stable after the recent events, I will give it another try. My friend has never worked with anything but Server as a T1 gateway so he probably doesn't know about Pro doing this. My networked computer will actually connect but will not 'dial' through the one with the modem. The place that Mucks gave looks promising, the 'helmig' one. The others I have tried with no success. I think it may be that I manually configured TCP/IP, and ICS is looking for another address. When I tried 'automagically configure' it tried to give me an address on the UD server. Could be something with the UD dialer, as I've had it for some time. The UD task refused to dial until I downloaded the UD dialer some months ago. It's easy to find information on 98 but hard to find on 2K, even at the Micro$oft site, and 2K has more steps.
